My mom landed just about the best direct tv deals ever the other day. She definitely hooked the family up and we all thanked her for it. Now we have just about every channel it seems. Finally, I get to watch my favorite channels like VH1 and MTV. I always watched them at my grand parents house, but we never had those channels at my house. I love to watch music videos. They do not show them as much anymore, but during certain times of day they will. I think MTV really only shows music videos early in the morning and in the afternoon. VH1 has become the same way where it shows more reality shows than music videos, but my favorite program on VH1 is the one they run about different time periods. Those are always funny when I know what they are talking about and interesting when I do not. I always think it is funny to see different trends and fads in music and in style. The episodes about the 80s make me feel like I lived then. The music and clothes were just so ridiculous and over the top. It seems like it would be fun to live through that.

God is Taking Care of Me

I know my Heavenly Father is taking care of me by blessing me with a dream job to work at home. I have a health condition that makes it difficult to hold a job outside, and hence I have been provided with a way out by working in the comfort of home all alone without any office politics. And it was also a blessing to find my current boss from the internet. He started out as my website client while I was in between jobs and then decided to employ me to work for him on a full time basis in a home office. I love my little family. I think it’s so much fun being a young mom and I know my husband loves it, too, but you know, it’s a lot of responsibility at the end of the day! We recently moved into a new house and that was an exercise into itself, not to mention still breast feeding and being at home with my son. I’ve had to do a lot of the legwork to get this house in ship shape and though it’s not 100% renovated I think we’ll get there eventually. I looked into satellite vs dial up internet and talked to the grass cutter about how we liked the yard and I’ve actually been reading up about how to install tile and I may surprise my husband sometime soon and actually install the backsplash in the kitchen one of these days! I love that we own this place and we’re no longer renters but there’s a lot of work ahead of us.

I attended church a few days ago and my favorite pastor preached on seeking Jesus first so that all these things will be added unto you. Not some things, not a few things but ALL these things will be ADDED and not given to you. We should not forget to pray and have quiet time in our pursuit for more financial blessings as we work hard every day to put bread on the table for our families. This verse is taken from Matthew 6:33 which is one of my favorite verses since a student.

Working at home certainly has its advantages. First of all, I save a lot of money on gasoline from commuting to a different work place. Secondly, I save money on office clothes and make-up. Hence I work in my pajamas or casual clothes like a t-shirt and a pair of shorts. Thirdly, I get to nap anytime I want to. Fourth, I don't have any nosy supervisor to look over my shoulders and checking on me. Fifth, I work at my own pace, setting the time and mood to work. It is like being my own boss at home. And I thank God for my blessings with a dream job since early 2004 until today.

I get paid a basic salary plus commissions for the projects that I bring in via my web site. As I have mentioned in my previous post, one can get overwhelmed with using the computer and working for my present company because there may be lots of typing to do and other work to be completed. But thank goodness, my self-taught training as an Information Technology Trainer in Informatics, Singapore got me well prepared. I have learnt some short cut tricks here and there using MS Word, Excel and even PowerPoint. I am also proficient in using Adobe Photoshop and can process the images quite well - saturating the colours and optimizing them for faster downloading without compromising on the image quality. Last week, my boss has informed me that I will be going to KL this week. It will most probably be tomorrow or the day after. I have just finished processing 70 envelopes which is the third batch for this year - putting calendars and marketing letters into the envelopes, chopping the company address, pasting stamps, sealing them and finally pasting on the receivers' addresses. Although I work from a home office, there will always be work every day, depending on the amount which may vary according to email enquiries, etc. Sometimes, I also need to type out invoices and delivery orders and email them to existing clients. Being the only employee who handles all the computer work, I have to work fast and be proficient in MS Word, otherwise, you may be overwhelmed with the amount of work each day.

This post is off topic from the Christian theme but it is about an online game where you can try your luck and play to win prizes. Though I have never played any online game before, I have had my hands full playing games installed on big machines like a vending machine that are placed all over the university for students to de-stress and have a time of fun. I still recall going over to Hall 7 from Hall 3 which was just a walking distance in Nanyang Technological University to release study pressures to excel and it was worth it.

The online game here is created to provide entertainment while at the same time to help you win points and redeem them for prizes. I am at a stage where I no longer play computer games anymore but am busy with internet work and my full time employment from a home office for a sports surfacing company which belongs to my friend. In my free time, I will read the news or catch up with cable connected television on the latest news like the death of Gaddhafi of Libya, etc. Besides, election is just around the corner and I am reading up on what the local government is doing to win votes - whether by the clean way or otherwise.

Yesterday, I also skipped church because I was tired and rested in my room instead. Sometimes my local church preach too much on law and to press people to give more money, it can turn me off. So I rather stay put and sleep under the cotton duvet in an air-con room.

Being part of a big family has made me hyper aware of some things and it’s that boys hate reality shows. We’ve got SATELLITE TV FAMILY at home and there are constant arguments about who gets to watch what and it usually comes down to the guys wanting to watch some sports game while the girls are wanting to watch some trashy reality show. For example, that show “Tough Love” is on VH1 and me and all my sisters love it. Of course the guys think it’s just pathetic so they’ve taken to actually stealing the remote and hiding it until they get home! The other day I found it in the FREEZER! I wonder what it is about those types of shows they hate and I know my mom likes them, too, so it can’t be a generational thing. I think it has something to do with girls being able to relate to the characters and guys just thinking they’re pathetic, you know? That seems like the likeliest explanation to me if you were to ask!

My parents keep saying that God found a dream job for me and a dream mate from the internet. They tell me to pray and thank God for my blessings. So, the internet is not full of tricksters or scammers but if you are lucky, you can find yourself a good deal - like my case of finding a perfect friend and boss. Some people are parasites, depending on others to feed them and refuse to work. It is not that they cannot work, but they choose not to work and take the easy way out, like sitting the whole day in the shop lot waiting for customers to walk in and give them business. For others, they prefer to nap the whole day and give excuse after excuse like cannot handle work pressure, etc. Just yesterday, I read an article in the newspapers of a young girl, a graduate in Computer Science from Australia who committed suicide after having depression and came back from Taiwan six months ago. This is so tragic as her condition could be averted by taking medication and seeing the mental health doctor. Life is more than work, it is about enjoying what you do and learning how to handle the daily grind and dreary pressure that may come along your way.

Later on, I will be going with my colleague to Kedah to meet up with a client and have to skip church service today. My friend has been tithing to church every week in the region of 4 figures in RM. On a side note, whenever she tithes faithfully and attend church service, the messages by the pastors or deacons are exalting and encouraging with much grace. But whenever she skips church due to business and did not tithe the RM 1k per week, the church management is not too happy about it and start preaching about condemnation and law! So, money certainly speaks the loudest here in my local church where the management seems to take our tithes for granted and expects it to be given faithfully every week! Now where was the humble attitude once upon a time??

Gambling is a disease. I have seen my own close relatives lost a lot of money due to gambling. My very own paternal grandma lost a fortune in gambling. Being educated until primary six, the only way she knows to make money is through gambling in the hope of striking it rich. But the end result is that she lost a fortune and had to hawk laksa in the streets just to bring up 4 children by herself – it is unfortunate that her husband passed away early in his thirties due to sickness. My own uncle lost a house and now had to rent an apartment in the low cost flats all due to gambling. So, no, for me, I am against gambling at all costs. I have seen the hardships suffered by my relatives due to foolishness in being addicted to gambling. From a life of abundance, they had to lead a life of poverty and living at subsistence level and practise austerity.

Missed Church for 2 weeks already

I have skipped church service for 2 weeks in a row now due to the pain on my left thigh. And I have visited the doctor 3 times already with an injection during the second visit. In 3 days time, I will be flying off to Macau, Shenzhen and Hong Kong for a 5 days 4 nights tour with my 2 younger sisters. I just hope that my left leg will recover on time for the tour and not having my sisters push me around in a wheel chair. And to rent a wheel chair from Royal Plaza Hotel in Hong Kong cost RM 1,500 or Hong Kong dollars of $3,000.00. Everything is money and you need to have lots of cash to tour and be comfortable during the visit.

I was on a business trip last week when I got a call from Public Bank requesting me to go there and discuss about my investment in government bonds that has matured and money put back into my savings account. Today I received RM 205 in my Public Bank account for bonds invested some time back. It gives higher returns than Fixed Deposits which is at 5% compared to 2.75% for FD. The bonds are at 3 years maturity. Tomorrow, my 2 fixed deposits at Maybank will mature after 1 year tenure and I am going to put for monthly maturity compared to yearly. I always keep track of my finances and how much I have accumulated. This will give me an indication on how much to spend and whether I have reached my targeted savings. Making money and earning it is fun!

Against my better judgment, I went to a co-worker's house to watch the Super Bowl last year. It was a pretentious and unbearable affair. I mean, serving foie gras and arugula biscuits? I really had a hard time enjoying the game while trying to hold a delicate wine glass and soup spoon. So this year I vowed that the fun starts in my house, since hosting a Super Bowl party comes quite naturally for me.

We are watching the Super Bowl on satellite TV from www.direct.tv surrounded by good eats, good vibes and good fun. The comfort of guests is a top priority no matter what, even if the game is a blowout and a disappointment. I would hate to make anyone feel obligated to use fancy napkins or walk on eggshells around the buffet. Nope, we get messy without regret.

In addition to bacon burgers and barbecue franks, I serve spicy chili and my infamous mojito dip. Of course, there are several side salads and various snacks, along with plenty of chips, dips and beer. I even make football cupcakes for the kids that attend. Most of the adults are too distracted for a chocolate dessert, but if interested, I serve some sweet liquor concoctions. Guests bet in advance on which team is going to win. The losers help with cleanup, all in good spirit.

In everything that we do, when we achieved success, we need to stay grounded and not let the success get into our heads. Stay humble and people will be attracted to you. Don't have false pride. Pride was the very reason Lucifer was kicked out from heaven as he wanted to be like God and to be worshipped. We don't worship angels as they are created beings. I do not want to talk about other religions, but my Christian faith has kept me going all this while - during times of stress, pressure, failure, etc. I guess I was brought up to be a tough person, able to handle stress especially as an undergraduate and while studying for my A levels in Singapore. Because of love, we were conceived in our mother's womb and out of the millions of sperm, only one managed to penetrate the egg and that's how life began. I thank God every day with more than enough to eat, spend, etc. This is the year of the rabbit and it heralds a new beginning for the coming Chinese New Year. I just came back from Kuala Lumpur for a short business trip that was successful. More projects to get started with and it spells a new beginning. I am happy to have a job to work at home comfortably in my pajamas and to work when I am ready. I can also nap when I need to at anytime of the day. Despite my freedom and privilege, I never take advantage of the goodwill bestowed upon to me by the company unlike some ex-colleagues who cannot wake up on time and is habitually late for work even to 2 hours or even more - Only God knows!

Today is the last day of 2010. I am not sure if I am going to attend my local church's watch night service. Both my parents will go for their own churches watch night services and reflect upon the happenings in 2010 - both good and bad. Another chapter is close and marks the dawn of a new year. I am still coughing badly and hopefully it will be healed soon so that I can enjoy the food. It is good to have some fellowship with friends for a small chit-chat. Different things happen each different year as we grow older and wiser. But I hope I won't put too much emphasis on work but instead stop and smell the flowers and enjoy the moment.

I still listen to the CD album now and then which I have at home. I have good health, able to enjoy good food and travelling all over Malaysia with some holidays in between work. I was feeling the pangs of loneliness these few days and did not go out as usual but instead stayed at home for dinner. My friend was down with common flu and had to quarantine to recover quickly from the medication that makes one drowsy. So, I immerse myself by reading the Bible especially on Psalms by King David and a magazine. When you are down and out, longing for companionship, just go to Psalms to read several chapters and you will feel much better. God is in charge in the affairs of men regardless of the circumstances despite the orphan spirit in me that makes me feel neglected and cast away. Books can be your best friends to keep you usefully occupied. The battle is in the mind and I have to take care of my mind by renewal each day with biblical verses.

I guess I am blessed to have a home, good job in home office, good health and the good life in general. This is God's divine blessings upon my life and I am thankful for it. Indian Pastor Came to My Church

Last Sunday, an Indian pastor from Johor came to preach in my church. This guy is recognised by the Malaysian government for his work in setting up orphanages there and he is also annointed to heal people. His preaching was really fiery but full of God's grace of favor and divine healing. This guy literally stood on the chair to preach and make his point known at times. He came from a broken background but is now blessed with 2 pretty daughters and a wife. Before it happens months prior to the incident, he also received a vision from God. He style of preaching was quite pertinent and make you alert to his every word spoken.

For God is Good

I used to think that gold bullion are huge and bulky like gold ingots. When I check some web sites, I noticed that they are actually small like gold coins and are more affordable unlike gold ingots that come in kilograms by the weight. Hence, I got both gold bullion and gold ingots mixed up. Now, with years of experience in blogging and surfing other web sites, I am more educated now with the various terms used. I have been blessed in a special way because I get to work from home while earning a constant income every month. I get a basic salary with commissions from the various projects that my company secure from the web site. My Aunt, the Advocate and Solicitor

I have worked in a law firm for a short stint for my aunt who is an advocate and a solicitor in Shenton Way, Singapore many years back. Well, the law firm is no longer operating now as my aunt is in her seventies now, time to retire gracefully. She handles all cases to deal with property transactions or also known as conveyancing which is more lucrative compared to litigation or fighting it out in court. There are different types of lawsuits that can be brought about by clients like Trasylol Lawsuit or Accutane Lawsuit in the States. It was an eye-opener for me to work for her albeit for a short while. At least I was exposed to the workings of a legal firm with hundreds of clients' files with a good filing system to keep track of so many records.

I am Down with Flu

I was down with flu since 2 days ago and yesterday I went to see the doctor near my house. As he normally has few patients, I don't have to wait too long. He gave me cough mixture and I requested for the non-drowsy type, otherwise I cannot work here and have to sleep the whole day in bed. He also gave me anti-biotics and pills for the phlegm. It was very tiring yesteday when I self-medicated and took the cough mixture that makes me very drowsy. Hence, was lying in bed almost the whole morning and evening. Wish I will get well tomorrow soon.

Heaven is Rich

There's lots of gold bullion in heaven. Even the streets are solid gold and not gold plated. They are paved with gold. Since the Bible is the inspired word of God, and it is clearly stated so, hence I believe it. Also heaven is a place where is the no more suffering, no more tears and no more sickness and death. You will live for eternity and that is a very long time to come. There will be a new heaven and a new earth where all the animals will live at peace with each other.

There will not be any more killing for food or murders. Everyone will live at peach with each other and this is the ultimate goal in life later on. But for now, we have to endure suffering, disease, sickness, illness and aging. But it will all come to pass and a new life begins. So in the meantime, while we are here on earth, let us life at peace with each other until Jesus returns in the Second Coming of Christ to be reunited with his fellow Christians.

We cannot get away from present sufferings like earthquakes, tsunami, pestilences, wars and more wars, etc. So, while life here in imperfect, we have to make do with the present circumstances.

Thank God Every Day

I thank God every day for my blessings such as a dream job to work at home since February 2004 until today. Sometimes, I am required to travel often to Kuala Lumpur to meet up with clients with my colleague and we stay in a rented apartment in USJ, Subang Jaya. The apartment is rented by my company and it is like a home office with printer, table and chair. I just need to lug my laptop along to continue to check for emails and to reply on the go to enquiries from customers. Now I need to work hard for my retirement and save enough so that I don't have to depend on people for financial help in my golden years.

Just 2 days ago, I decided to buy 9 message CDs on behalf of a friend from Pastor Joseph Prince's online store for more than RM200 after conversion to ringgit from Singapore dollars, including express delivery by DHL. The Nuns have Taken a Vow of Poverty

My dad and two younger sisters are Catholics in the family. Only myself and mum are Protestants. But we believe in the same God. My parents help out every week in Little Sisters of the Poor where the nuns there have taken a vow of poverty - such humble actions on their part. They don't believe in amassing great wealth and certainly don't preach prosperity. They lead a very humble simple life in the organisation helping the aged and sick every day to do the necessary things and to keep them mentally occupied in their golden years.

Tithing is a Serious Matter in My Church

Tithing seems to be a very sensitive issue and a serious matter in my local church. Ever since I stopped tithing in November last year, there were many changes taking place in my local church! First was the printing of bulletin. They have decided to save money on paper and print once a month instead of every week. Then shortly later, they put donation envelopes in all the pews and every chair to make it so OBVIOUS that I should continue to tithe, like I am obligated to them! I have given thousands in the past and it is time to save up for my retirement. But I still continue to give offerings every week. The church does not see its own blessings from other givers but seem to focus on what is missing!

Streets of Gold in Heaven

In the bible, God has said that there are streets of gold in heaven. And it is not gold-plated but filled with solid gold inside out. There will be lots of gold bullion as part of the structures as well including precious gems like diamonds, rubies, sapphires, jade, etc. Heaven is the final destination for all the children of God, those who are born-again Christians. This is our ultimate promise by our Heavenly Father. And Jesus as redeemed us from sin and a life of sickness and curse for a life of blessings, health and prosperity. He will go and prepare a place for us. The greatest miracle in my life was when I became a Christian since 1985.

My Senior Church Pastor has Gone for 1 Month Sabatical Leave

It is certainly good to be able to go for 1 month's leave in a foreign country and my senior church pastor has gone to Australia together with his wife. It is so co-incidental that since I stopped tithing, the church has stopped corporate prayer for the members on Sunday service. Otherwise, they will always have prayer sessions for the members after service. Since I pay by cheque, they know who is paying and when. And since I have stopped, they have become more negligent in their duties by printing the brochures every month, instead of every week.

Life of Favor and Grace

Having a Blessed Life

I thank God every day for the little blessings that come along my way - protection from accidents especially when driving along the North-South Highway on the way to Kuala Lumpur or using the East-West Highway when travelling to Kelantan or the Karak Highway when going to Pahang. I also have more than enought to eat and enough money in my bank account. Also, I get to work at home, my dream job for a small sports surfacing company. I handle all the jobs to do with computers including updating the company website.

If I win myself a gold bullion, I would be very happy indeed. For your information, just a gram of gold now cost around RM126.00 and a gold bullion would weigh very much more. Gold bullions are used as investments by rich people during wars or when the value of money is no longer there. In school, I have won an Art price of being the top poster designer in class and the prize money was RM15 only. Nevertheless, I was estatic to come out tops as I did not expect it. In heaven, not only do you have gold bullion, but rather streets of solid gold and not streets that are gold-plated. Heaven is a very rich place with mansions built and prepared by Jesus for its loyal followers that have passed on. Life on earth is just a transition. Eventually all of us will have our eternal destiny upon death. For the Christians, they will eventually dwell in heaven, the best place ever with no more tears, sorrow or sickness or even aging. And you get to live here for eternity - which is a very long time. That's the advantage of being faithful Christians and we get our inheritance as children of God.
